So how hard is it to use peel and sticks. Here are some hints:
Wash wall and make sure it is dry. For newly painted walls let paint "cure" for 10 to 15 days before to applying decals. Even if new paint feels dry, it may continue to need to settle and thoroughly dry. Peel and Stick Wall Decals are not suggested on "Orange Peel" textured walls, over cinder blocks, very uneven and porous surfaces, wallpaper or fragile surfaces. Wall stickers are OK to use on tile provided that the surface is clean and completely dry during application. Make sure the design element does not cover grout area as water could possibly leak under and compromise the adhesive. Apply onto shower walls, as long as they are placed tightly onto the surface so water can't get under the sticker. Once placed, RoomMates won't shift even if sprayed by shower.
Vinyl wall decals can't be placed in a dishwater or microwave and they should not be placed on rugs, fabrics and any other textiles. Textile fibers may cling to the adhesive and destroy the product. Also, never position at the base or inside the tub. Water could filter under the design element too easily and would compromise the adhesive. When applying, make sure you start from one side (for the border) or the top (for the appliques) of each element. Keep the rest of the element separate from the wall/surface. Gradually go down over the product with your hand and smooth the element onto area (and press the bubbles out as you go). Once put on you should be able to shift any excess bubbles out by pressing/smoothing them out of the element. If the difficulty persists (this would only happen with the giant decals), you can punch a tiny (invisible to the eye) hole with a pin to drive the air out.
In all, it will always be most effective to test wall decals in an inconspicuous area. If the surface is uneven, performance could be significantly diminished. Make certain surface is clean of dust and dirt or you may compromise the adhesive and ruin the item. Interesting Stuff |
